Barcelona’s build-up to their Champions League quarter-final clash against Atletico Madrid is already gathering momentum, and acting president Rafa Yuste has expressed his sheer optimism about the tie.
Speaking in a recent media appearance, Yuste said that while Barcelona are aware of the challenge ahead, there is also a strong belief within the club.
Addressing the upcoming European clash, Yuste acknowledged the quality of their opponents while reinforcing Barcelona’s own strength when performing at their best.
“We have a lot of respect for Atletico Madrid; we saw that in the Copa del Rey. But we also saw that when we’re at 100%, we’re unstoppable. Every competition is different.”
Apart from the tactical side, Yuste also took time to underline the positive atmosphere surrounding the club.
After a strong showing at the Spotify Camp Nou against Newcastle United, the connection between fans and players has become a key talking point.
“There was a tremendous sense of unity between the members and the players.”

Despite the excitement of reaching the Champions League quarter-finals, the acting president stressed the importance of not looking too far ahead.
Barcelona’s immediate priority remains their domestic fixture against Rayo Vallecano, which marks their third consecutive home game.
“We’re very happy to be in the quarterfinals, but we have to focus on Rayo.”
Meanwhile, it must be noted that the recent Champions League clash against Newcastle United marked the first time Joan Laporta attended a match from the VIP box following his election victory.
While he is yet to officially assume the presidency, set for July 1, his presence is already being felt around the club.
Laporta is expected to attend all home matches moving forward, although he will not travel with the team for away fixtures until he formally takes charge.
