5 Biggest SNUBS From Thomas Tuchel’s England Squad

England’s 35-man squad for their upcoming set of international fixtures has been announced – and some of the Three Lions’ biggest names have been omitted from the squad list.

With players from clubs such as Everton, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur missing out, we put together a list of the most notable snubs.

We’re just a few months away from the World Cup – who missed out on Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad this time?

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Were it not for the major hamstring injury that Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall suffered a few months ago, the 27-year-old would likely have a much better chance of being on the plane.

Even still, the former Leicester City and Chelsea man consider himself unlucky to have been left out – he has been an excellent creative influence for the Toffees this season.

An indomitable runner with excellent technical ability and an eye for goal, Dewsbury-Hall is a complete attacking midfielder. This season, he has scored six Premier League goals, alongside a trio of assists.

Nick Pope

It’s true – Nick Pope’s form has been on the decline in 2025/26. Even still, it’s surprising to see him not even make the provisional squad – is he now England’s 6th choice goalkeeper?

For years, Pope was widely recognised as England’s second-best goalkeeper behind Jordan Pickford. Nowadays, however, Tuchel appears to disagree.

Pope has played in 22 Premier League games this season, but has only managed to keep a total of seven clean sheets. Still, one might argue that he has outperformed Aaron Ramsdale over the course of the campaign.

Ollie Watkins

Ollie Watkins has certainly been disappointing in the current season for Aston Villa, but does it mean he should be left out of the England squad entirely?

Watkins has still scored eight Premier League goals this season, alongside a solitary assist. He has scored more goals than Mohamed Salah, Nick Woltemade and Anthony Gordon this season, but has been left out regardless.

Perhaps this is Tuchel’s way of sending a message to Watkins? We know that he is capable of better – Tuchel may be telling him that he will not be a part of his plans if he isn’t realising his true potential on the pitch.
