Ranking the Packers needs from cornerback to safety

There are still a few free agents available and more will become available in time.

Another trade, or two, could be in the works as well. And, of course, there is the NFL draft where the Green Bay Packers currently have seven selections.

All three of those avenues could fill the remaining needs on the Packers roster. What needs? Here's a ranking from top to bottom.

Cornerback — If the team goes into the 2026 season with Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine as its starters fans will be as upset as opposing offenses will be thrilled. Benjamin St.-Juste was a nice addition, but more is needed. Another veteran and a high draft pick should be added.

Offensive Line — Depth is the issue here. The starters are set and hopefully Jordan Morgan, Aaron Banks, Sean Rhyan, Anthony Belton and Zach Tom will get time together in camp. Bringing back Darian Kinnard was good, but a few mid-round draft picks to compete with Travis Glover and John Williams, both coming off injury, would be nice.

Defensive Tackle —**Javon Hargrave** was a real good signing for a Jon Gannon defense. Unless the team thinks Jon Ford is ready, or Nazi Stackhouse is going to take a big second-year jump a nose tackle is needed either through the draft or a signing.

Running Back — It would be nice if the team could count on third-round pick Marshawn Lloyd, but it can't. So unless they plan to move receiver Savion Williams (it's not out of the question), a No. 2 back is needed. It's not a good year for running backs in the draft so the team may have to act quickly.

Tight End — If Tucker Kraft is healthy, a team could do a lot worse than Kraft, Luke Musgrave and Josh Whylie. All three are on the final year of their contracts, however, so a mid-round pick on a good blocker might be in line.

Edge — If a veteran wants one last chance and will come at a reasonable cost, why not? The team may be young enough here to not have to add another draft pick unless someone falls in its lap.

Linebacker — The room got crowded in a hurry with the trade for Zaire Franklin and the re-signings of Kris Welch and Nick Niemann. Don't sleep on Ty'Ron Hopper and Jamon Johnson taking steps under Gannon as well.

Wide Receiver — Unless there's a trade made, the room is already overbooked with seven players, including return specialist Skyy Moore. It would be nice if one of the three pending free agents — Christian Watson, Jayden Reed or Dontayvion Wicks, is extended before the season.

Quarterback — There isn't anyone in this draft not named Mendoza who can come in and be QB2 to Jordan Love. And there isn't anyone worth trading for or signing. Let Matt LaFleur and staff work with Desmond Ridder and Kyle McCord and see what happens.

Safety — This is the deepest and maybe strongest position on the team.
