“Maintains a Strong Foundation”: PFF Ranks the Seattle Seahawks No.2 In Power Rankings Despite…

The Seattle Seahawks went 14-3 last season and were the number one seed in the NFC. Seattle won Super Bowl LX against the New England Patriots. This was the second time in franchise history that the Seahawks won it all.

There is a good chance that Seattle could repeat as champions next season. Even with Mike MacDonald still around as head coach, they lost some good pieces along the way this offseason. Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak became the next head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. They lost Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker in free agency to the Kansas City Chiefs. General manager Jon Schneider will be tasked to finding his replacement one way or another this offseason.

Mason Cameron of profootballfocus.com did his latest NFL power rankings at this point in the NFL offseason before the NFL Draft. Despite Seattle losing key pieces this offseason, he still has them as the second-best team in the NFL right behind the Los Angeles Rams. Cameron said, “The Super Bowl champion Seahawks cede some ground here after seeing key contributors walk this offseason, including Super Bowl MVPKenneth Walker III, three starters on defense and offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. While those are significant losses, Seattle maintains a strong foundation in all three phases of the game, the blueprint to its championship run.

All three units feature elite talent, highlighted by Offensive Player of the YearJaxon Smith-Njigba and PFF’shighest-graded cornerback,Devon Witherspoon, to name a few. The front office also re-signed elite returnerRashid Shaheed.”

There is no doubt that Seattle is going to have key pieces back, but losing Walker, Kubiak, and others will hurt no doubt. The offensive line unit is a very good unit. Is Seattle going to test the theory that any running back can run well behind that offensive line? It remains to be seen if that will work for the Seahawks or not. There is no doubt that teams like the Rams and the Chicago Bears are going to try and catch them next season in the NFC. Seattle has been drafting so well lately that they should be fine next season anyways.
