Trae Young and Anthony Davis are forming a new dynamic NBA duo for the Washington Wizards.
The Washington Wizards are starting to look a lot different with the new dynamic duo of Anthony Davis and Trae Young. It has been a wild ride for Davis since staring alongside LeBron James with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Things did not go quite as planned for Davis with the Dallas Mavericks, but the superstar now gets a fresh start with the Wizards. Washington struck two blockbuster NBA trades in a matter of months to pair Young and Davis together.
During an exclusive interview with Heavy Sports, Young discussed his new star teammate, playing for the Wizards and his partnership with Sling TV. Young is beyond excited to eventually play alongside Davis.
“Obviously, it’s better late than never (in my career) being able to play with a guy like this, even over here,” Young told Heavy Sports. “He’s a top-75 player, and I’m just fortunate to be able to have a guy like this that can relieve some pressure in the game whenever I’m on the court with him.
“And I mean, I can also make his life easier too. So I think it’s going to be a great partnership and I’m looking forward to even building with him, as well as also with the other guys.”
Trae Young Has Been Talking to Anthony Davis ‘A Lot’ Since the Wizards Trade
Young is unfortunately sidelined with an injury but has remained in contact with Davis as they gear up to share the court together. Young noted that he talks to Davis “a lot” since the big man was traded to the Wizards.
“Oh yeah, for sure. A lot,” Young said on his discussions with Davis since the blockbuster trade. “A lot. It’s been good. It’s been really good.”
Wizards Star Trae Young on His NBA Future: ‘There’s Not a Ceiling That I’m Chasing’
The last few seasons have been complicated for both Davis and Young. Davis’ tenure with the Lakers came to an abrupt end after being dealt for Luka Doncic in one of the most surprising trades in NBA history.
Young’s final seasons with the Atlanta Hawks were dominated by trade rumors. Given some of the heights of Young’s tenure with the Hawks, it is hard not to think about the past, but the star guard is hoping the best is yet to come.
“For me, there’s not a ceiling that I’m chasing,” Young remarked when asked what the future holds for his career. “And there’s a lot of things that I want to achieve.
“And I mean, for me, only the man above knows where my ceiling is going to be. So I just want to work extremely hard to achieve as much as I can in this game. I’ve always been a winner,” Young added.
“So, I just want to win at the highest level and just try to win as much as possible. And for me, whatever comes with that is going to come with it. I’m just excited about this new opportunity.”
Trae Young Is Partnering With Sling TV for the Potential of a $1 Day Pass During March Madness
Young is partnering with Sling TV just in time for March Madness. Fans who purchase any Sling pass (1, 3, or 7 day) subscription during the opening weekend of the NCAA tournament will be eligible for a special reward if the underdogs make a run.
Fans can purchase a pass between March 19 and March 22, for a free entry, no purchase required. If any 12-to-16 seed advances to the Sweet 16 in either the men’s or women’s tournament, eligible customers can claim their next 1 day pass for just $1.
“Obviously, it’s an exciting time with March Madness and to be able to partner with Sling TV and give people another platform to really get excited (about) and an easy way to watch the games and tune in,” Young explained. “I think it’s an unbelievable opportunity. I’m excited to be a part of it and for the underdogs, too.”
