AJ Brown recorded 78 receptions for 1,003 yards this season, making him the first Eagle to post four straight 1,000-yard seasons. He also caught three passes and a touchdown in Philadelphia’s 40–22 Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs the previous year.
Despite his production, his relationship with the Eagles gradually took a terrible turn, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Brown wants out. While GM Howie Roseman hasn’t committed to a move, he is listening to offers.
So far, the price is quite high. Philly reportedly wants two draft picks and a player, a package no team has been willing to pay yet.
Patriots poised to steal AJ Brown from Eagles in post-June 1 handshake trade
The Los Angeles Rams were in trade talks before the New England Patriots became the frontrunner. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, theRams backed out after reviewing medical reportson the 28-year-old receiver.
They were concerned about long-term wear on his knee and saw it as too much risk. The Tennessee Titans had similar concerns when they traded him to the Eagles in 2022. With Los Angeles out, New England is the only team left in talks.

The financial picture explains that trading Brown before June 1 would cost the Eagles $43.51 million in dead money and actually lose them $20.1 million in cap space. Waiting until after June 1 splits that hit over two years, saving the team $7.04 million in 2026. Given those numbers, Howie Roseman isn’t likely to move him early.
Now, a fresh report from insider @RickeyScoops is making the rounds on X on Thursday, claiming the Eagles and Patriots already have an agreement in place.
Scoopsreported, “I’ve been told that the #Eagles and #Patriots have an agreement in place to trade AJ Brown post-June 1 and should be official June 2. Howie has been trying to get 2026 picks but his magic did not work this time.”

However, the account sharing the original report, Savage Boston, noted that RickeyScoops has a spotty track record when it comes to Patriots predictions. So, take the “handshake deal” framing with a grain of salt.
Philadelphia wants to wait until after June 1 for tax reasons, but the Patriots are the only serious suitor left. Most experts believe he’ll be a Patriot by summer, but nothing is signed yet.
