The New England Patriots were one of the biggest surprises in the NFL last season. New England had a 14-3 record. They went to the Super Bowl but lost to the Seattle Seahawks. The Patriots are going to have a tougher schedule next season and could win fewer games.

New England also lost some key players in the offseason. Some teams in the AFC like the Buffalo Bills, the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Denver Broncos got stronger. Will the Patriots be as good as of a team next season? Or do some people also think that they are going to not be as good of a team?

Profootballfocus.com updated its latest NFL power rankings of the 2025 NFL offseason. Despite reaching the Super Bowl last season, they have the Patriots ranked number 11. It is a little interesting that they are not ranked in the Top 10 either. Mason Cameron said, “After a run to the Super Bowl this past season, the Patriots faced difficult offseason decisions. As a result, they lostStefon Diggs,K’Lavon Chaisson andJaylinn Hawkins, the team’s leaders in receiving yardage, sacks and interceptions, respectively. New England made every effort to fill those voids with quality veterans in receiver Romeo Doubs, edgeDre’Mont Jones and All-Pro safetyKevin Byard, though. The Patriots should be a contender once again.”
They will have the 31st overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. It will be interesting to see which position that the Patriots target with that pick. It would not be a surprise to see them draft a wide receiver. They also do need more help on the offensive line and the defensive line as well. New England was ahead of schedule a season ago. Not many people expected them to get to the Super Bowl. Mike Vrabel is the right head coach for this team in the long haul, but there will be more growing pains for quarterback Drake Maye and company moving forward.
