First Spring Weekend 2026: Steelers Friday Night Five Questions

Happy Friday, and I hope yinz are doing well.

The busy period of free agency is essentially over, and we’ve now got a clear look at the Steelers’ roster. Some of their notable additions include Michael Pittman Jr., Rico Dowdle, Jamel Dean, Jaquan Brisker, Darnell Savage, Sebastian Joseph-Day and the re-signing of Asante Samuel Jr.

Pittsburgh did a good job to address some of its needs, and the Steelers won’t go into the draft being forced to focus on one position early. The offensive line, both at left guard and left tackle, have picked up momentum this week. But receiver, the line, the secondary and maybe even linebacker are all still spots to consider early in the draft.

With each passing week, the draft comes a little bit closer. We’re just a little bit over a month away now, and the Steelers are already starting to stack their pre-draft visits. Things should continue to ramp up for about a month, then they’ll quiet down for a while once the draft passes.

As always, we’re here with you throughout the weekend for whatever news comes our way.

Have a safe and happy weekend.

Recap: Post-First Week Of Free Agency: Steelers Friday Night Five Questions

Let’s go, people!

Q1: On a scale from 1 (not happy) to 10 (very happy), how do you rank Omar Khan’s moves this week?

Steelers Depot respondents are happy with Omar Khan’s moves in the first week of free agency. The median response was an 8 out of 10 on the happiness scale. SoCal now Central PA Steeler fan said, “…pretty solid week. Filled all the pressing needs (except quarterback, but I’m assuming there is another gentleman’s agreement with Rodgers in place).”

Q2: Between Pittman, Dean, and Dowdle, which acquisition will have the biggest impact in 2026?

Michael Pittman received 12 of 16 votes as the acquisition that will have the biggest impact in 2026. Jamel Dean and Rico Dowdle split the remainder. Ted Webb: “Pittman has been needing a solid WR other than our #1 for years.”

Q3: Should the Steelers trade Patrick Queen?

Ten of 16 respondents said the Steelers should not trade Patrick Queen. Wes said, “First, let’s see which teams are offering, and WHAT they’re offering. As for now, I’d say no.”

Q4: What should Omar Khan’s next roster move be?

Folks see Omar Kahn keeping busy. Sign a quarterback (Rodgers), prepare for the draft, extend players like Joey Porter Jr., but the biggest move respondents want Omar Kahn to take next is signing an offensive lineman. Ginko18 says, “Sign Brock Hoffman or other capable starting G so we can truly draft BPA and not BPA at position of need. Still expect to leave draft with 4-5 starters /Yr2 starters by end of R3 and double dip at WR.”

Q5: Is Rico Dowdle an upgrade over Kenneth Gainwell?

Twelve of 16 respondents say Rico Dowdle is an upgrade over Kenneth Gainwell. BurghBoy412 says “Different body types. Different running styles. I’ll say Dowdle is an upgrade because he can fill the power back role that has been missing IMO.”
