The Atlanta Falcons agreed to a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles for safety Sydney Brown, according to the latest NFL news from ESPN insider Adam Schefter, among others.

“A Falcons-Eagles trade, per ESPN sources,” Schefter reported on March 20. “Falcons and Eagles swapped fourth- and sixth-round picks, with Atlanta also acquiring S Sydney Brown. Picks No. 114 and 197 to the Eagles in exchange for picks No. 122, 215 and Sydney Brown.”

So, in essence, the Eagles move up in two separate rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft, and the Falcons add a former third-round selection and safety to their secondary. Not a bad deal from Atlanta’s perspective if Brown ends up making an impact.

The NFL Network insiders confirmed the details of this trade. In a follow-up article, digital content editor Michael Baca wrote the following:

A third-round pick in 2023, Brown made nine total starts in three seasons with the Eagles. He’s totaled two interceptions, two forced fumbles, five pass break-ups and 86 tackles in 42 games.

The Falcons add experienced depth to their secondary with the acquisition of Brown, who’s poised to back up Jessie Bates and Xavier Watts.

Brown’s exit from Philadelphia is the latest change to a secondary that saw fellow safety Reed Blankenship head to Houston via free agency. The Eagles signed Tariq Woolen this offseason to shore up their cornerback unit alongside Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.

Needless to say, the Eagles are giving up on Brown’s development, as he has yet to break through inside their system.

Along with the “experienced depth” that he adds, the Falcons’ acquisition should help on special teams. Brown has appeared on 757 special teams snaps for Philadelphia since entering the league in 2023.
