Arsenal have seen links emerge with one of the most highly-rated youngsters in the Bundesliga

Arsenal are heading into what could be a memorable few months for the club and will hope that their greatest targets under Mikel Arteta are achieved with trophy success this season.

The Gunners are nine points clear at the top of the Premier League and after reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League in midweek, they face their first chance at silverware of the season against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.

Despite all the work there is yet to be done on the pitch, the north London outfit are making preparations for the summer as they aim to strengthen their squad once again ahead of next season. Huge names such as Sandro Tonali and Julian Alvarez have been linked with the club, as is only natural, while a rising star in the Bundesliga is now reportedly being monitored by the club after bursting onto the scene this term.

Arsenal linked with Bundesliga wonderkid after stunning breakout season

According to reports by Caught Offside relaying information from Spain, Arsenal are ‘intensifying their pursuit’ of Bayer Leverkusen striker Christian Kofane ahead of what could be a big summer for the youngster.

The Cameroon international only signed for Leverkusen last summer but his record of seven goals and eight assists have caught the eye of multiple European heavyweights, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle previously reported to be interested but Arsenal now thought to be at the front of the queue - though a move could cost as much as €70million (£61m).

The 19-year-old has seen a rapid rise to prominence after making his senior debut just over a year ago, for former club Albacete in the Spanish second division in January 2025. A goal on his debut and eight goals in the second half of last campaign earned Kofane a major move to the Bundesliga, where he has taken top-flight football and even the Champions League well within his stride – becoming Leverkusen’s youngest-ever Champions League goalscorer at 19 years and 67 days old. Now, less than a year on, the Premier League champions-elect are set to come calling.

Kofane’s rapid rise - shining at AFCON and impressing at the Emirates

It is no surprise that Kofane is being tracked by some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League, as his breakthrough in just over a year has been astounding – and even led to the teenager scoring twice in four appearances for Cameroon at AFCON, despite only making his senior international debut during the tournament.

He might not be ready to start for a club such as Arsenal just yet, but it might be a case this summer of securing a deal for the 19-year-old before someone else does. Possessing a rare blend of pace and raw physical strength, Kofane would fit in with ease at the Emirates and has even shown them what he is about already, offering a stern test to centre-back duo Gabriel and William Saliba with impressive 90 minute displays in both legs of the Gunners’ hard-fought 3-1 win over Leverkusen in the Champions League last 16.

With forward options such as Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli linked with an exit from the Emirates in the near future, Kofane could prove the perfect addition to future-proof the Gunners front-line – after his rapid rise, who knows how far he could go.
