Liam Rosenior is "very excited" for his first summer transfer window as Chelsea head coach and is adamant the club will not have to sell their key players if they miss out on qualifying for the Champions League.
The Blues are in an intense battle with the likes of Liverpool, Aston Villa and Manchester United to secure their spot among Europe's elite next season. It has been an underwhelming campaign for Chelsea, who have lost their last three under Rosenior, and there are conversations behind the scenes between the head coach and the sporting directors about the upcoming summer transfer window.
"We're having really detailed conversations now about the areas that we want to strengthen," said Rosenior. "I've had great conversations about what I think we need. We're very aligned, actually, in terms of where we want to strengthen and how we go about that, which is very exciting.

"The most important bit, though, is making sure we get the now right as well. It's great to be able to plan for the future but I want to make sure we're also in a good place. We want to win. That's why I'm here, and I'm having really good conversations with the ownership and sporting directors about that."
Enzo Fernandez spoke to Argentinian media after the defeat to Paris Saint-Germain and the midfielder hinted he could leave Stamford Bridge in the summer. Rosenior, however, has no indication from Fernandez, or any of Chelsea's other key players, that they are unhappy at the club.
When asked about Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Cole Palmer, who cost Chelsea just over £245million combined, specifically, Rosenior said: "One of the things, the way that we manage as a staff, not just myself, but my assistants, in two and a half months... I have a very good relationship with the players because we speak all the time. Not just about football, or the situation with their contracts, but about their life, with their kids, how their kids are, how school is.
"I have a very, very close relationship with Enzo and with the other players. In terms of contracts and where they want to be, there's not one player at this club since I've been here that has said that he doesn't want to be here in the summer. In fact, the conversations are more about how we improve, what we can do as a group to improve, what we need to do to win in this moment. And that's where we are at the moment."

Pressed on whether his key stars all want to say, Rosenior added: "They love it here."
Qualifying for the Champions League will not dictate whether the likes of Fernandez and co. stay at the club, Rosenior said: "In my conversations with the ownership and the sporting directors, our plans are not solely based on whether we make the Champions League or not."
