If you were disappointed in the Cleveland Browns‘ approach on the wide-receiver market in free agency last week, you’ll be much happier to know that the team is taking the position a lot more seriously in the NFL draft. It only takes a quick glance at the list of players they’ve brought to Barea recently to see that they’re planning to come away from next month’s draft with a new receiver. Maybe even two.

The Browns have picks No. 6 and No. 24 in the draft, and while it is unlikely they will use both of those picks on receivers, they could deal down from the six spot and hope to bring back two first-rounders—in a package from Dallas, which picks at No. 12 and 20, for example.

There’s a chance the Browns could take Carnell Tate at No. 6, as he is viewed as the only likely Top 10 pick at the position. Tate has been to visit the Browns on a Top 30 trip–teams are allowed to meet with 30 prospects before the draft–but he has not been alone.

Browns Have Met With 7 WRs of Top 8 in NFL Draft

The Browns have met with a whopping seven receivers in this year’s NFL draft class, and they’re all in the upper echelon of the group. In fact, all seven are in Pro Football Focus’ Top 8 in the wide receiver class.

From a variety of reports, the receivers the Browns have or have had meetings with are:

Carnell Tate, Ohio State. First on PFF’s WR list.

Makai Lemon, USC. Second on PFF’s WR list.

Jordyn Tyson, Arizona State. Third on PFF’s WR list.

Denzel Boston, Washington. Fourth on PFF’s WR list.

Omar Cooper Jr., Indiana. Fifth on PFF’s WR list.

Chris Bell, Louisville. Seventh on PFF’s WR list.

Germie Bernard, Alabama. Eighth on PFF’s WR list.

No. 6 on the PFF list is Texas A&M’s KC Concepcion, and there’s no word yet whether the Browns plan to meet with him. But it is still pretty remarkable that the Browns have worked their way down the PFF list here in late March, with a clear eye on picking what they hope will be their WR1 for the near future.

But again, it does not have to be just one receiver. If the Browns trade down, they could take two shots at adding a top gun at the position.

Wide Receiver Room Lacking Entirely

Without a doubt, the wide-receiver room could accommodate more talent. Star receiver Jerry Jeudy was awful in 2025, the Browns receivers put up a jaw-dropping stat last year. They combined for just 117 catches, among six players. Meanwhile, the NFL leader, Puka Nacua of the Rams, had 129 catches.

Jeudy had 50 catches, and at least 10 drops. The Browns’ No. 2 receiver was Cedric Tillman, who was injured and played only 13 games. Yet he had the second-most catches on the roster, with a mere 21. There’s some hope for Isaiah Bond, the talented second-year man who went undrafted while sexual assault allegations hung over him (a grand jury refused to indict) and who could bounce back with a clear head in camp this year.

But the roster needs at least two more productive players at the position. And the Browns will look tot he draft for that.
