Hoffman’s signing with the Steelers was erroneously reported over a week ago, but now the deal seems to have come to fruition. Hoffman was non-tendered as a restricted free agent by Dallas, who initially signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia Tech in 2022.
Hoffman has a connection with Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy with his time in Dallas, and he also worked under running backs coach Ramon Chinyoung, who was Dallas’ assistant offensive line coach during the last three seasons of Hoffman’s tenure in Dallas.
He should provide offensive line depth for the Steelers after the departure of Isaac Seumalo. He could compete with Spencer Anderson for Pittsburgh’s starting left guard job, but he’s a versatile piece and could be a top backup on the interior offensive line. Hoffman’s signing is the second offensive line signing the Steelers made today, as the team also brought back Ryan McCollum.
Financial terms of the deal were not immediately apparent. The 26-year-old Hoffman appeared in all 17 games with Dallas each of the last three seasons, with seven starts in both 2024 and 2025. He has 16 career starts and 54 career appearances in four seasons with the Cowboys. He played 474 offensive snaps last season, a year after he played a career-high 517 in 2024. He has 1,212 career offensive snaps and 329 career special teams snaps.
