Austin Reaves calls LeBron James the real Lakers leader, not Luka Doncic

Austin Reaves called LeBron James the true leader of the Los Angeles Lakers, saying "follow the leader" after watching LeBron play through fatigue and making Reaves suit up, as well as Luka Doncic.

The Los Angeles Lakers are on an eight-game winning streak, and while much of the attention is on Luka Doncic – who is averaging 40.9 points during the streak and has entered the MVP conversation – Austin Reaves is reminding everyone of LeBron James.

Los Angeles Lakers / Schedule

Reaves, a key member of the Lakers' Big Three, described LeBron as the true face of the team and a constant source of inspiration.

"I remember there was a timeout early, and JJ [Redick] came over and was like, 'I know y'all are tired,' and Bron was like, 'I'm not tired.' So, I was like, 'I'm not tired either.' Yeah, follow the leader. That goes along with the belief that we're talking about," Reaves said, per Benjamin Royer.

"When [LeBron] said he was playing, I was like, I can't let a 41-year-old play and I not play, so I signed up to play and so did Luka, and we went and grinded the win out."

At 41, LeBron James is still putting up 21.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 6.9 assists in the record-breaking Year 23.

Luka, now the Lakers' primary building block, leads the league with 33.4 points per game, while Reaves posts 23.5 points per game.
