The battle for the remaining Champions League places behind Arsenal and Manchester City is heating up.

A fourth-place finish has traditionally been the benchmark for qualification to UEFA's premier club competition. However, in recent years, an additional spot has been made available for the two nations that perform strongest across the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League.

Newcastle United capitalised on the extra berth last season and despite English clubs' mixed performances in the Champions League knockout stage this term, including Chelsea crashing out to PSG, fifth place looks set to be sufficient again.

The Blues, along with Manchester United, Aston Villa and Liverpool, are in contention, meaning at least one will miss out and have to settle for Europa League football. football.london predicts each club's remaining fixtures and final positions...

Aston Villa

Current position: 4th

Points: 51

Goal difference: +3

West Ham (h): The in-form relegation contenders won't be easy to overcome. Prediction: Villa 1-1 West Ham.

Nottingham Forest (a): A challenging away fixture, but with Forest struggling in front of goal, Villa should claim victory. Prediction: Forest 0-1 Villa.

Sunderland (h): A crucial encounter in Villa's pursuit of Champions League qualification. Prediction: Villa 2-0 Sunderland.

Fulham (a): A difficult trip against a dangerous Fulham outfit. Prediction: Fulham 2-1 Villa.

Tottenham (h): Despite Spurs showing some fight finally, Villa should still prevail. Prediction: Villa 2-1 Spurs.

Brighton (a): Buoyed by the Champions League victory over Galatasaray, Liverpool should secure a vital three points. Prediction: Brighton 0-2 Liverpool.

Fulham (h): Tricky opponents on their day but Arne Slot's side should come out on top. Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Fulham.

Everton (a): The Reds' first visit to the Hill Dickinson Stadium will be a stern test. Prediction: Everton 1-1 Liverpool.
