The teenager finally joined up with the Blues after the Club World Cup last summer, despite a deal worth up to £51.4m being agreed with Palmeiras in 2024.

Estevao has had a good first season, where he’s put in several impressive performances, and you can see he’s a real talent.

The 18-year-old has scored seven goals and registered three assists in 32 appearances in all competitions, including a brilliant goal against Barcelona.

Estevao has just returned from a hamstring injury and will be hoping to get his first minutes since returning in Saturday’s game against Everton.

Liam Rosenior has heaped praise on the Brazilian, but Chelsea need to be careful and ensure they manage him in the correct way and protect him when needed.

There’s rightly a lot of hype around Estevao, and he’s set to play a key role for Brazil at the World Cup this summer.

Estevao has seemingly got everything to become one of the best players in the world, and Vickery is convinced he’s the best player to come out of Brazil since Neymar.

“I don’t know if you really realise how important this is that he didn’t go to Real Madrid or Barcelona,” he told Hayters TV.

“He could have gone anywhere, could have taken his pick, and the young Brazilian’s they always want Real Madrid or Barcelona.”

The importance of saying no to Real Madrid and Barcelona

It was seen as a real coup for Chelsea to sign Estevao given the number of top clubs interested, and Vickery believes the importance of saying no to Real Madrid and Barcelona can’t be overlooked.

“For example say Philippe Coutinho effectively threw away his career going to Barcelona when he was great at Liverpool, but you couldn’t say no,” he added.
