Bournemouth take lead in youngster chase–Trying to beat Liverpool and Arsenal

Darío Osorio

A handful of Premier League clubs have continued to track Chilean youngster Darío Osorio. However, the situation around the winger is now moving beyond simple monitoring as a Bournemouth move begins to take shape, ahead of competition such as Liverpool and Arsenal.

The 22-year-old has been building his profile steadily at FC Midtjylland since arriving from Universidad de Chile in 2023. While his overall numbers already pointed to a player on the rise, his most recent campaign shows clear progression.

This season, Osorio has contributed six goals and 10 assists in 38 matches. He has improved both his output and influence in the final third. His per-game numbers also underline that growth.

In addition, his shots on target have increased from 0.7 to 1.1 per match. At the same time, his successful dribbles remain consistently high at 2.2 per game.

Those improvements have come alongside his already recognised ability to cover ground. He also continues to contribute defensively, making him a more complete wide player.

Previous interest now turning into concrete moves

Interest from England is not new, but the landscape is shifting.

Liverpool have followed Darío Osorio’s development for some time and previously made an approach worth around €8.7m-€10m (£7.5m-£8.6m). That proposal fell short of Midtjylland’s expectations. Nevertheless, the winger has remained on their radar, with scouts continuing to watch him in Denmark.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have maintained their long-standing interest. Their recruitment team has also monitored him closely in recent months. This continues a process that began when the club’s South American scouting structure first identified his potential.

However, the key change in recent weeks is the emergence of AFC Bournemouth as the most active suitor.

According to Chilean newspaper La Tercera, Bournemouth have already sent scouts to the MCH Arena to watch Osorio live and are now preparing a potential offer. That puts Andoni Iraola’s side ahead of Liverpool and Arsenal at this stage.

Other Premier League clubs remain in the background. West Ham United and Fulham FC are also keeping track of the situation, particularly as a possible intermediate step before a move to one of Europe’s elite sides.

Midtjylland’s stance and what comes next

Midtjylland are well prepared for this moment. The Danish club extended Osorio’s contract until 2030 earlier this year. This places them in a strong negotiating position. Internally, he is viewed as one of their most valuable assets for a major future sale.

Recent claims from Chile have indicated that Midtjylland are aiming to break the Danish transfer record, currently set at around €24m (£21m). At the same time, more conservative expectations place their minimum valuation closer to €18m (£15.5m).

That gap highlights the situation clearly. There is strong interest and increasing movement, but it remains to be seen whether any Premier League side will meet the level Midtjylland are targeting.

With Bournemouth now pushing hardest and Liverpool and Arsenal continuing to monitor closely, Osorio’s future is entering a more decisive phase.
