Hugo Ekitike injury update after the striker was substituted in Liverpool’s Premier League fixture against Brighton.

Hugo Ekitike was forced off in Liverpool’s clash against Brighton.

The striker had to be substituted in just the eighth minute of the AMEX Stadium encounter. Ekitike was involved in a coming together with former Reds vice-captain James Milner. He received treatment and tried to continue but was subsequently withdrawn, being replaced by Curtis Jones.

Liverpool will certainly hope that Ekitike has avoided a serious issue. It appeared that Ekitike suffered a bad dead leg rather than a muscle issue. Against Brighton, Mo Salah could not feature because of a muscle problem while No.1 goalkeeper Alisson Becker did not make the trip to the south coast.

After the south-coast encounter, the majority of the squad will head off for international duty before Arne Slot’s side face Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-final on Saturday 4 April.
