Bills predicted to make another draft day trade with rival.

The Buffalo Bills have been criticized for draft day trades with their rival, the Kansas City Chiefs, and they are predicted to make another.

Buffalo traded down with the Chiefs in 2024, which allowed Kansas City to select star wide receiver Xavier Worthy. The Bills then traded down again and selected Keon Coleman, who hasn’t panned out, while Worthy has been an impact receiver for the Chiefs.

Many Bills fans have said they don’t want to trade with the Chiefs again, but NFL analyst Chad Reuter of NFL.com predicts the team will swap picks again. Reuter predicts Buffalo will trade down from 26th overall to 29th overall.

“To move up three spots, the Chiefs send their fourth-round pick to the Bills, who send back a sixth-rounder,” Reuter wrote.

The Chiefs would select offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor, while Reuter has Buffalo taking edge rusher Cashius Howell.

“The Bills’ new-look defense could use Howell’s speed off the edge. Opponents will forget all about his short arms (30 1/4 inches) when he becomes a major pass-rush factor as his rookie campaign progresses,” Reuter added.

Although the Chiefs would select an offensive tackle, many Bills fans would be concerned about trading with the team again. But the Bills would be able to land Howell, who can be an impact pass rusher for Buffalo.

Bills GM Discusses NFL Draft Plans

Entering the 2026 NFL Draft, the thought process among many in the industry is that it’s not as top-heavy as next year’s draft is.

Bills general manager Brandon Beane, meanwhile, said he isn’t sure how many first-round grades the team will have. Yet, he does expect the team to find good players in the draft, especially in the later rounds.

“I definitely think there will be players day two and day three that can help us in various roles, whether it’s competing for a start (or) a really good backup,” Beane said at the combine. “… We’ll find good players with that first round pick as well. You just don’t know if you’re technically going to be selecting out of your first round. It’s early to know that.”

Beane and his staff have begun building out the draft board as Buffalo plans to go after the best player available with every pick.

“It’s really important to build your board right in the next couple of months and let it speak to you what you need to do,” Beane said.

The Bills have seven picks in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Chiefs Benefit From Trades With Buffalo

Not only did the Chiefs get Worthy while Buffalo landed Coleman in a draft-day trade, but Kansas City also selected quarterback Patrick Mahomes due to a trade with the Bills.

Buffalo traded the 10th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft to the Chiefs for the 27th pick, the 91st pick, and a 2018 first-round pick. With the 10th overall pick, Kansas City selected Mahomes, who has been a Bills killer in his career, and a big reason why Josh Allen has yet to advance to the Super Bowl.

So, due to the Chiefs getting impact players on draft day, trades with Buffalo, many fans want Beane and the Bills to avoid trading with their rivals.
