The Washington Wizards released an injury update on their star guard, Trae Young.

The team announced that Young reinjured his right quadriceps, sustaining a contusion during the third quarter of a game against the Golden State Warriors earlier this week.

Related imaging, conducted due to ongoing back pain, confirmed lower back irritation.

Both injuries are being treated conservatively and will not require surgery at this time. Further updates will be provided as appropriate.

With the Washington Wizards ranking near the bottom of the Eastern Conference with a 16–53 record and only 13 games remaining in the season, they will most likely look to sit their star out for the rest of the season.

Young has appeared in only five games with the Wizards since joining the team after being acquired at the trade deadline due to injuries.

In those five games, Young has averaged 15.2 points and 6.2 assists per game in around 21 minutes of play.
