How LeBron James can break another major NBA record against Magic

Los Angeles Lakers star forward LeBron James will have an opportunity to break another major NBA record against the Orlando Magic on Saturday night.

By Simply playing in the game, James will break a tie with Robert Parish and become the NBA’s all-time leader in regular season games played with 1,612. James is already the league's leader in all-time postseason games played with 292.

James isn’t listed on the official injury report for the game in Orlando, indicating that he will be available to play and thus break the record.

When it comes to passing Parish and breaking the record, James already has the blessing of the Boston Celtics legend.

"If anyone is deserving of breaking the iron man record, I would say LeBron James is," Parish said recently. "Because he takes such good care of himself. ... His approach to fitness and what he puts into his body reflects, or mirrors, how I felt about my fitness and what I ate, how I took care of myself. And so, it's a testament to not only my longevity, but LeBron's longevity."

Parish held the record for nearly 30 years, but he knew it would fall eventually.

"Oh, no, no," Parish said. "I thought the record would be broken eventually."

It will be interesting to see how long the record stands once James takes the mantle. It’s tough to imagine anyone playing in more NBA games than James has, but hey, anything is possible.
