Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox argued Andrew Berry and the Cleveland Browns are one of the best fits for left tackle Taylor Decker.

The Cleveland Browns have already invested a lot in their offensive line this offseason. But Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox sees the Browns potentially making one more big addition — left tackle Taylor Decker.

Knox called Cleveland one of the best free agent fits for Decker, who the Lions released in March.

“Decker may be entering the back end of his career, but he’s still a starting-caliber left tackle and has been for some time. Decker has started 140 games across 10 seasons and was ranked 41st overall among all tackles by Pro Football Focus in 2025,” wrote Knox.

“While the rebuilding Cleveland Browns would be less enticing to Decker, they also have major question marks at left tackle.”

A former first-round pick from the 2016 NFL Draft, Decker has started 140 games in his career. He made the Pro Bowl for the Detroit Lions during 2024.

At Pro Football Focus, Decker has earned an overall grade above 80 three times in his career. Over his decade in the league, he’s performed well at run blocking and pass protection.

Why Taylor Decker Could Fit With Browns

Cleveland is undergoing major change along its offensive line this offseason. With Decker, the Browns could add a short-term upgrade on the quarterback’s blindside until the team finds a more permanent solution.

In free agency, the Browns lost veteran tackle Jack Conklin, who took most of Cleveland’s snaps at right tackle the past two years. To replace him, the Browns added three veterans.

First, they traded for Tytus Howard from the Houston Texans. More than likely, he will start at right tackle. But the team also signed Teven Jenkins and Cornelius Lucas in free agency.

Along the offensive line interior, the Browns added Zion Johnson and Elgton Jenkins on free agent contracts.

Decker would be a similar addition as Jenkins, who also played his entire career in the NFC North before this offseason. The Green Bay Packers released Jenkins early this month.

He’s not still playing at his Pro Bowl level, but Jenkins figures to offer Cleveland an upgrade at guard.

Decker is likely to be better than Browns incumbent left tackles Cam Robinson, KT Leveston or Dawand Jones. All three played at least 100 snaps at left tackle for Cleveland last season but severely struggled.

Robinson, Leveston and Jones all posted PFF grades well below average.

Decker registered 67.9 PFF overall grade in 2025.

Decker’s NFL Resume in 2026 NFL Free Agency

The former Lions left tackle hasn’t received any accolades outside of his 2024 Pro Bowl nomination. But he’s been a very solid left tackle throughout his career.

His PFF grades indicate that. In Detroit, he lasted through multiple regime changes and remained a key cog for the team when the franchise finally turned the corner in 2023.

That kind of experience might be well suited in Cleveland.

During 2023, the Lions ended a 30-year division drought. The team also won its first playoff game in 32 years.

The Browns won a postseason contest during January 2021. But as Cleveland fans know, they have never won the AFC North.

Cleveland’s last division title came in the AFC Central during 1989.

Decker probably deserved Pro Bowl nominations prior to 2024. But he finally received some recognition when the Lions became a great team.

The Browns are hoping for much better offensive line play next season. According to PFF, Cleveland was 29th in pass protection and last in run blocking.
