The Arsenal captain has emerged as a doubt for Sunday’s showpiece at Wembley Stadium after missing the last six games in all competitions with a knee issue.

Meanwhile, Timber’s status has been up in the air - despite being named in the Netherlands squad for the pre-World Cup friendlies later this month - after limping off against Everton last weekend.

Upon revealing the latest Arsenal team news in the pre-match press conference on Friday, Mikel Arteta was hopeful of a double boost going into the Carabao Cup final.

“We have another training session tomorrow, so the ones that are in contention hopefully can give us good news,” Arteta said when asked for an injury update on Friday.

“We have another session tomorrow, so let's see if they can make it.”

It would appear that Arteta is about to get his wish of good news as both Odegaard and Timber were spotted taking part in Saturday’s session at London Colney.

Eberechi Eze, who scored the winning goal for Crystal Palace in last season’s FA Cup final against City, was also present, seemingly shaking off the knock that forced him off against Bayer Leverkusen.

Arsenal will definitely be without Mikel Merino, who is sidelined for a period of months after undergoing surgery on a rare and serious foot injury in February, for Sunday’s final.

The Arsenal team to face Man City will be announced at 3.15pm GMT, ahead of the 4.30pm kick-off at Wembley Stadium.

Victory for the Gunners would see them lift their first piece of silverware since the FA Cup in 2020 when they beat City in the semi-final en route to defeating London rivals Chelsea in the final.

Arsenal have not tasted defeat to City since April 2023, but did lose the last time the two sides contested a Carabao Cup final back in February 2018.
