The Rams could reunite with Bobby Wagner
The Los Angeles Rams have one of the best rosters in the league after two weeks of free agency and could continue to add to the group.
Defense was the key priority this offseason, as noted by the additions of Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson. LA can sign someone with familiarity with the organization and get back on another Super Bowl run.

The linebacker group is arguably the weakest position on the Los Angeles Rams roster heading into the 2026 season.
Nate Landman is the only guaranteed linebacker starter for Chris Shula’s defense next season and could use a quality teammate next to him. There are still some gems in free agency that could benefit Los Angeles.
Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox released a list of the best free agents left on the market and their best fits, naming LB Bobby Wagner as a fit to reunite with the Rams.
“Like a few players lingering on the free-agent market, linebacker Bobby Wagner is nearing the end of his career. He’ll turn 36 in June, but he is planning to play his 15th NFL season in 2026, … And Wagner can still man the linebacker position better than most,” Knox wrote. “Given his age, Wagner would make the most sense for a team with serious Super Bowl aspirations.”
“L.A. is eager to maximize its remaining time with Matthew Stafford, as evidenced by their trade for cornerback Trent McDuffie. Signing Wagner would add another leader and difference-maker to the Rams’ defense.”
Wagner, an 11-time All-Pro, would bring extensive experience to the whole team. The linebacker played for the Washington Commanders the previous two seasons, logging almost 300 tackles and 6.5 sacks in his tenure.
Pro Football Focus graded Wagner as the 9th-best linebacker out of 88 qualifying in the 2025 season, giving him a 78.6 overall grade.
The LB previously played for the Rams in the 2022 season, registering 140 tackles and 6 sacks. If Wagner were to return to the City of Angels, he would play under Chris Shula instead of Raheem Morris, who was his DC during his one season in LA. Shula had the 10th-best scoring defense in the NFL.

Bobby Wagner joined the Rams on a five-year, $50 million deal, but both parties agreed to part ways after just one season, with head coach Sean McVay having positive words about the linebacker after his departure.
“Bobby is an outstanding competitor and a leader that elevates everyone around him,” McVay said, via the Rams. “His perspective, steadiness, and consistency set an example for our players, coaches and staff. We are grateful for Bobby and his contributions to our organization during his time with the Rams.”
While the team couldn’t keep the linebacker, the positive remarks reveal the player is always welcome to return.
Spotrac projects Bobby Wagner to receive a one-year, $7.7 million contract, with the Rams having more than enough to get a deal done with one of the best linebackers in recent memory.
