Shams Charania names which West team will move to East amid NBA expansion buzz

According to the ESPN insider, there has been a lot of talks about Minnesota moving to the Eastern Conference.

As the NBA expansion chatter continues to grow, it appears that Shams Charania has already revealed which Western Conference team will move to the East Coast.

Minnesota Timberwolves / Schedule

Appearing on The Old Man and the Three podcast, the ESPN NBA insider named the Minnesota Timberwolves as the likeliest West franchise that could be relocated should the expansion materialize for Seattle and Las Vegas.

"When I talk to people around the league, it's going to be likely either Minnesota or Memphis. A little bit of a lean on Minnesota because there's that cluster—Minnesota, Milwaukee, Indiana, Chicago—and it's right there," Charania said.

"I have heard a lot of Minnesota chatter."

The Timberwolves and the Memphis Grizzlies have been identified as two possible teams under significant consideration for a potential relocation to the East.

As such, Minnesota is significantly close to several other Midwest teams like Milwaukee, Chicago and Indiana, which makes sense as to why the T-Wolves are being favored to make a move.

A potential Timberwolves relocation will allow the NBA to have a balanced 16 teams per Conference with the inclusion of Seattle and Las Vegas franchises. Not to mention, it will be intriguing to see how the team will fare with superstar Anthony Edwards leading the way.

"If you're Memphis or New Orleans, you probably feel like you have a case. Memphis certainly has a case. I've been asked a lot about which team relocates, which I think I've defined in my reporting—Minnesota or Memphis," Charania added.

"But then, there's all these other questions like expansion draft and who would be the protected players per team."
