Chelsea are prepared to listen to offers for striker Liam Delap during the upcoming summer transfer window, according to reports, in a development that underlines the uncertainty surrounding his future at Stamford Bridge.
The striker only joined CHELSEA from Ipswich Town last summer in a deal worth around £30 million, arriving with a strong reputation after scoring 12 Premier League goals in his breakthrough campaign. However, his first season in west London has failed to meet expectations.
Delap has struggled for both form and fitness, managing just one Premier League goal and limited overall impact, while falling behind Joao Pedro in the pecking order. His lack of consistent minutes has been compounded by the Brazilian’s strong performances, leaving Delap largely confined to a supporting role.
Interest is already building ahead of the summer. Newcastle United are among the clubs monitoring his situation, having previously considered signing him before his move to Chelsea, and are now exploring attacking reinforcements once again. Everton have also been credited with interest, suggesting there could be a competitive market should CHELSEA formally open the door to his departure.

Why a summer exit makes sense
The presence of Joao Pedro as the undisputed first-choice striker has severely limited Delap’s opportunities. Even when chances have come, the pressure of performing in a high-expectation environment has arguably hindered his ability to rediscover the instinctive finishing that defined his time at Ipswich.
A transfer, particularly to a club like Newcastle or Everton where he could play a more central role, would offer a clearer pathway to consistent game time. It would also allow him to rebuild confidence away from the intense scrutiny that comes with playing for Chelsea.
Crucially, Delap still possesses the physical attributes and goal-scoring instincts that made him such a highly rated prospect. But without regular football, those qualities risk stagnating.
