Chelsea will be able to freshen up their ranks with some new faces this summer
Liverpool are in ‘talks’ with Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga over a potential switch to Anfield amid interest from Chelsea, according to CaughtOffside. The Reds are said to be leading the chase for the player’s signature ahead of the next transfer window. He is under contract in Spain until June 2029.
Liam Rosenior’s side were beaten 3-0 away at Everton on Saturday night. They weren’t able to get anything at the Hill Dickinson Stadium and slumped to a disappointing heavy defeat. The Blues are back in action next weekend against Port Vale in the FA Cup.
Chelsea fall behind Liverpool in Eduardo Camavinga race
Chelsea could do with some competition in midfield for Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo. Therefore, someone like Camavinga would be ideal for the London outfit. However, they may need to look elsewhere for reinforcements in the middle of the park if Liverpool sign him instead.
Camavinga, 23, has been on the books at Real Madrid since joining them back in 2021. Prior to his switch to the La Liga giants, he rose up through the academy at Rennes and was a regular for them at various different youth levels before breaking into their first-team as a youngster. He then left France for La Liga and hasn’t looked back since.
The France international, who has 28 caps to his name, has been a useful asset for Real Madrid over recent years. He has made 213 appearances in all competitions and has scored six goals. However, his long-term future is up in the air now.
Speaking after their loss to Everton, Chelsea boss Rosenior said: “It's a disappointing time for the club at the moment in terms of the way we lost in the Champions League and the way we've lost the last two games. My job, it hurts. Regardless of your position, it hurts to lose games of football.
"Yeah, the most disappointing evening so far in terms of the things we've spoken about, not gifting goals away and making sure we're in the game, getting control of the game. It wasn't there and it turned into a really difficult evening where the result and performance was nowhere near what we expected or wanted.”
