After winning a championship ring along with an MVP award last season, Shai is still building on that momentum as the Thunder are on top of the Western Conference.

Last night in a win over the Washington Wizards, Gilgeous-Alexander scored 40 points and added 7 assists to his tally.

After the game, Canadian point guard was asked to explain the feeling of hatred towards him and the Thunder around the league.

Gilgeous-Alexander responded that he loves it and that all the historical players go through a phase like that:

"Everyone in NBA history goes through a phase where people love them and then hate them. LeBron James was hated, and look at what he's done for the game. It's part of the game. I love it. It's something I dreamed about when I was a kid," he said.

"But you'll never hear a Thunder fan complain about my shooting. You'll never hear a Denver fan complain about Jokic's shooting. You'll never hear a Lakers fan complain about Luka's shooting. It's just part of the job."

This season, Gilgeous-Alexander has played 57 games, averaging 31.8 points, 6.6 assists and 4.5 rebounds on 33.5 minutes per game.
