AC Milan are admirers of Barcelona centre-back Gerard Martin but it will be hard to prise him away in the summer, Matteo Moretto claims.
Milan are in the market for a new defender in view of what will hopefully be a return to Champions League football, and Martin’s name has been mentioned. Moretto was the one who claimed that the management areinterested in signing the Spaniard.
However, Mundo Deportivo then insisted the the player himself hasno interest in leaving Barcelona given his strong attachment to them. Paolo Maldini then entered the frame, gifting the youngster a shirt in recognition of his ‘Gerard Maldini’ nickname.
After things went quiet on the Martin front for a bit, journalist Matteo Moretto spoke on his YouTube channel about Milan’s possible summer options and he expressed his feelings regarding the pursuit of the Barcelona talent.
“AC Milan really like Gerard Martin, a young and versatile player who is proving his worth at Barcelona,” he began, as transcribed by MilanNews.
“Right now, however, Barça is very happy with his performances, and the boy is very attached to the club. We expect the Blaugrana to start negotiations for a possible renewal. The love between Martin and Barça is truly strong.”
