The Toffees only brought in Tyrique George in the end, after Jack Grealish’s injury ruled him out for the season.
It is thought Everton will target the full-back positions this summer – and Lewis-Skelly is one of several players on the club’s radar.
The youngster has struggled for minutes this season, and as a result there is doubt about his future at the Emirates.
And it seems now that Everton have been given some encouragement ahead of a potential swoop.

The development is potentially good news for Everton, who may well be needing a new left-back with Vitalii Mykolenko’s contract expiring this summer.
That said, Everton have been trying ‘feverishly’ to tie Mykolenko down to a new deal.
But it’s not all positive for Everton over Lewis-Skelly, because TEAMtalk do add that Manchester United have also now joined the hunt for the youngster.
TEAMtalk say sources have indicated that Old Trafford officials are ‘increasingly focused on strengthening depth at left-back’, with Lewis-Skelly on their radar, along with Tyrick Mitchell and Antonee Robinson.
Everton must monitor Lewis-Skelly situation
There’s every chance Mykolenko will stick around beyond the summer, with Moyes clearly a fan of what he brings to the table.
But even if that happens Everton need to bring in another option.

It could be difficult to sign Lewis-Skelly with Arsenal insisting that he gets regular game time. But perhaps it’s not out of the question that Everton could actually look at a permanent move.
Either way, he’s a player the Everton recruitment officials should continue to monitor.
He’s not played a great deal this season. But at one point he was seen as one of the most exciting English youngsters around, and that potential is obviously still there.
