Minnesota Vikings pass rusher Jonathan Greenard has seen his name in trade rumors this offseason. However, no team has made an offer that would cause the Vikings to pull the trigger on a trade.
Greenard has made a significant impact since arriving in Minnesota in 2024, racking up 97 tackles, 15 sacks, and five forced fumbles over 29 games, according to StatMuse.
Looking ahead, the Vikings will have a major decision this offseason. With Greenard entering the final year of his contract after the 2026 NFL season and Dallas Turner emerging as a force with eight sacks last season, Minnesota must weigh whether moving Greenard would be the right decision.
Amid all the rumors and speculation, Greenard dropped a cryptic message on X on March 22.
“Can’t stop what’s already written,“ Greenard wrote.”… God you’re awesome all the time.”
Insiders Give Update on Vikings’ Jonathan Greenard
With the draft a few weeks away,Zach Berman of The Athletic wrote in a March 20 article that thePhiladelphia Eagles still have an interest in Greenard to help bolster their pass rush for the upcoming season.
“Edge rusher is a big position to watch, even with Ebiketie,“ Berman wrote. “Greenard is challenging to predict because it requires compensation in a trade and with a new deal, but the interest is present.”
The Vikings could receive a serious offer from a team keen on Greenard in the lead-up to the draft. Moreover, Alec Lewis of The Athletic revealed two potential landing spots that make sense for the Vikings pass rusher.
“I think over the course of the last week or last two weeks, it probably seemed more imminent than it was,“Lewis said on the March 18 edition of “The Alec Lewis Show.“ “I would say that the Minnesota Vikings have been very clear from the outset that they are doing this on their terms. So they are not going to trade a talented player that they’ve really liked having, Jonathan Greenard, unless it makes a lot of sense for them to do that.
“I would say the Philadelphia Eagles definitely still need edge rusher talent. I mean, they have Jalyx Hunt, they signed Arnold Ebiketie, they have Nolan Smith Jr., but to have another elite edge rusher, it’s part of the reason they were in on Jaelan Phillips. And then I think theIndianapolis Colts are kind of in a similar vein.”
Insider Weighs In on Cowboys-Jonathan Greenard Speculation
On March 13, NFL insider Jordan Schultz stated that he believes Greenard is the type of player the Dallas Cowboys should pursue to bolster their pass rush next season.
“To me, that’s the type of player that Dallas should go after,“ Schultz said during an appearance on 105.3 The FAN. “I still think they need more juice coming off the edge. He can rush, he’s a really good tackler. I would be surprised if he wasn’t moved, but I also know that you’re going to have to pay him a big salary on a multi‑year deal, and that’s probably why it hasn’t happened just yet.”
