Maxx Crosby sparked some mystery across the social media sphere on Sunday, March 22, with a one-word post that had fans of teams like the Chicago Bears wondering what the five-time Pro Bowler intended with his message.
Crosby took to X and wrote simply: “BANGGGGGGGGGGG.”
Fans had questions for Crosby, as his comments section filled up with them over the next hour-plus.
“What does this mean Maxx Crosby?” one person responded to Crosby’s post.
“Please elaborate???” another fan wrote.
“HE’S WATCHING MARCH MADNESS LIKE THE REST OF US,” a third person wrote. “CATCH UP COMMENT SECTION LOL.”
“Why did that actually scare me 😳?” a fourth X user chimed in.
Maxx Crosby Trade Still on Table This Offseason, per Insider Reports

Whatever Crosby meant, he did not elaborate immediately, though the final day of second-round play of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament was underway at the time of the post.
Regardless of Crosby’s meaning, fans of teams like the Bears have reason to remain hopeful that the star defensive end could become available at some point during the offseason, which still has nearly six months remaining.
NFL analysts have linked Chicago to a potential Crosby trade since well before the Las Vegas Raiders dealt him to the Baltimore Ravens for two first-round picks, and Baltimore subsequently rescinded its offer based on a failed physical related to a knee injury/surgery he addressed following the completion of last regular season.
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN then reported just a week ago that the bidding on Crosby hasn’t closed, it has merely slowed down.
“Everybody seems like they’re in a good spot, but since [the Raiders] already looked at trading, they’re open to that possibility, potentially, if the right offer would come,” Fowler said on an episode of SportsCenter. “We’re looking at timelines here. Now is gonna be a little slow, but you get closer to the draft, perhaps trade offers will heat up, or even maybe closer to the season. But right now, he’s a Raider, and that’s expected for at least a little while.”
Bears Lost Quality Players in Secondary During 2026 Free Agency

Whether Chicago is still in on Crosby after Fowler reported they were more observers/spectators at the end of the Raiders-Ravens negotiations remains an unknown.
However, the Bears took a couple of tough and unexpected hits to the offensive line in the form of center Drew Dalman’s retirement following the knee injury that left tackle Ozzy Trapilo suffered during Round 1 of the playoffs against the Green Bay Packers.
Free agency also cost Chicago four safeties, including both starter Jaquan Brisker and first-team All-Pro Kevin Byard III, as well as Pro-Bowl cornerback Nahshon Wright. The Bears have made some solid moves to address their concerns, but whether the team has actually gotten any better is a matter of real debate.
Making a move for Crosby at a discounted rate, perhaps a first-round pick along with a second- or a third-rounder — Chicago owns pick Nos. 57, 60 and 89 across Rounds 2 and 3 — could make considerable sense for a defense that struggled to pressure opposing quarterbacks all season and may take a step back in the secondary.
Mason Cameron of Pro Football Focus slotted Chicago in as the No. 15 team in his power rankings on March 18, even despite the Bears making a run to the Divisional Round of the NFC playoffs.
