Since joining the Golden State Warriors, Draymond Green has seen a lot of winning. After all, he was a part of one of the biggest dynasties in sports history.

While the Warriors still employ stars from that era (Green and Stephen Curry), along with the head coach in Steve Kerr, they have had a hard time posing a threat as true title contenders since the last time they won it all in 2022.

Going into the 2025-2026 NBA season, Green hoped that the Warriors were once again turning a corner to land back in true contention. A full season of Jimmy Butler boosted the spirits in Golden State.

But the reality was that the Warriors were still a borderline Play-In team with Butler, and are now surely one without him.

Injuries have dominated the Warriors’ chances of finishing in the top six. Heading into their Monday night clash with the Dallas Mavericks, the Warriors are 10th in the Western Conference with a 33-38 record.

They know they are Play-In bound, and Draymond Green is sick of it.

“I’m sick of the play-in [tournament],” Green recently stated on his podcast.

“It seems like we’re a play-in magnet. It sucks, but it’s great when you want an opportunity to get into the playoffs. And that is the reality for us. We are not moving out of the play-in, and we won’t drop out of the play-in either. So, we’re in the play-in, and that’s what coach Kerr’s message has been to the team.”

Draymond is tired of the Warriors being a Play-In Tournament team

“I feel like every year we coming in saying that we wanna stay away from the play-in and I feel like the play-in attracts us… and it’s like we just looking at the wall and spinning to the wall”

Green doesn’t hold back. It’s a quality that Warriors fans have grown to love over time. However, when outspoken doesn’t come with on-court success, it tends to hit differently.

The veteran forward’s comments are understandable, but Warriors fans are frustrated with the messenger this time around.

“Maybe you should improve and be more productive one of these seasons ?” said paulsbballshow on X.

“You have a coach that’s perfectly fine throwing winnable games to prove a point. Been happening for years. Start there,” M_Dot2000 claimed.

“Literally no self-awareness from this guy,” GoatedGen30 said.

“Bro, you are the main reason why the Warriors peak as a play-in team,” CostumedVillain said.

“The call is coming from inside the house,” J0y30irTY added.

“Look no further than yourself, the next dynasty starts after you,” donewith90s said.

The 36-year-old Green has been in the NBA since 2012. At the time, he was selected in the second round, 35th overall, out of Michigan State. He has spent his entire career with the Warriors.

Green’s resume is impressive. He is a four-time champion, four-time All-Star, two-time All-NBA, nine-time All-Defensive, and an NBA Defensive Player of the Year winner in 2017.

At the end of the day, he is a Warriors legend, but the past isn’t getting him a pass right now.

Green has appeared in 58 games for the Warriors. He is posting averages of 8.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game. After being one of the top defensive players in the league last season, Green has struggled to mirror that play in 2025-2026. The fans took notice and have let him hear it over time.
