Last summer, Chelsea signed Dario Essugo from Sporting Lisbon, while they also have a deal in place for Geovany Quenda.
Quenda has been at Chelsea, rehabilitating after undergoing surgery on a foot injury.
It now looks like the Blues could raid Sporting again for another one of their players in the summer transfer window.

Chelsea interested in signing Maxi Araujo
Chelsea already have Marc Cucurella and Jorrel Hato for the left-back position, but they are now being linked with Sporting’s Maxi Araujo.
According to Sport Witness, Chelsea have made contact over signing Araujo, who has impressed at the Jose Alvalade Stadium this season.

Cucurella has just two years to run on his contract, so perhaps the club are thinking about life after the Spaniard.
In January, it was claimed that Manchester City could make an approach for Cucurella this summer.
If that happens and the Carabao Cup winners manage to land him, Chelsea will need to sign a new left-back like Araujo.
Maxi Araujo’s stats in Portuguese league this season
As already mentioned, Araujo is having a bright campaign. Going forward, the 26-year-old has been very effective.
In 21 league appearances, he has scored four goals and provided three assists, which is a great return for a left-back.
Araujo has not neglected his defensive work either. According to WhoScored, the Uruguayan makes 1.1 interceptions per game, which is the highest average in Sporting’s squad.
He also has the third-highest average for tackles, making 1.9 per game. Ultimately, if Chelsea do want to sign a new left-back in the summer, Araujo could be a good option for them.
Ideally, Cucurella remains at Stamford Bridge. Cucurella was poor against Everton over the weekend and is not in top form right now, but he is still one of the best left-backs in the Premier League. Again, there is also Hato, who has really improved since Liam Rosenior’s arrival at the club.
