It’s a tough old time to be a Chelsea fan at the moment, and Gary Lineker was left stunned by something Alan Shearer said about Liam Rosenior’s side following their 3-0 loss to Everton.
A third defeat in Chelsea’s last six Premier League games came on Saturday night, a humbling loss away at Everton. Chelsea’s makeshift defence struggled as Beto scored twice and Iliman Ndiaye got another.
Shearer was very critical of both Wesley Fofana and Jorrel Hato in his analysis on Match of the Day, and the stats prove Fofana is proving to be somewhat of a liability under Liam Rosenior at the moment.
What position would Chelsea be in NOW if Enzo Maresca was still in charge?
Be honest!
The only bonus for Chelsea is that Liverpool were beaten by Brighton and it keeps Chelsea’s hope of a top-five finish alive. Even if Opta think Chelsea’s Champions League qualification chances are just 10%.
Gary Lineker stunned as Alan Shearer tells him Chelsea stat
Shearer analysed Chelsea’s defeat on Saturday night and said that the Blues had been outrun in every single Premier League game this season, by their opponents. He told Lineker the same stat on Monday.
On The Rest Is Football, Shearer said he had to check with Match of the Day’s “stat guy” to make sure the stat was correct, describing it as “unbelievable”. Lineker was stunned, questioning Chelsea’s attitude.

Shearer said: “Every single Premier League game they’ve played this season, home and away, every team has outran them. Fascinating. I had to get the stat guy to check it three or four times, that’s unbelievable.
“Every team they’ve played this season has ran more than them. I know you’re going to have the ball more than the opponent, but every single game? I think that’s amazing,” Shearer continued on Chelsea.
Lineker replied: “Yes, I saw it on socials actually because I didn’t have the chance to watch Match of the Day. Wow. Is it a question of attitude?”
Why are Chelsea not running more than their opponents?
While it is incredible that Chelsea have been outrun in every single game, there is a good reason to explain why the Blues might not run as much as their opponents in most of those matches this term.
Who would you rather replace Liam Rosenior if he gets sacked — Cesc Fabregas or Filipe Luis?
Both men were linked with the Chelsea job before Rosenior's arrival! Explain your choice in the comments…

Chelsea average 59.1% possession in the Premier League so far, across 31 league games. With the ball, Chelsea are not having to run after their opponents or press as much as they do when in possession.
On 27 occasions, out of their 31 league games, Chelsea have had more possession than the other team. So on the face of it, Chelsea being outrun in every game is a remarkable stat, but there is a reason.
It is that Chelsea often limit their opponents to just 40% of the ball, and in only four league games this season, the Blues have had less possession than the other team. But it is clear that work rate is an issue.
