Arsenal and Chelsea ready to compete for Argentine

Arsenal and Chelsea are ready to compete for Ian Subiabre, the latest young talent to emerge from South America, although Inter Milan are also monitoring his situation.

The 19-year old who currently plays for River Plate is primarily a left-footed right side player, although he can play on the other flank, and occasionally as a centre-forward. He is fast and tricky, although his end-product still lacks consistency.

Subiabre is not a regular starter for his club currently, but his ceiling is believed to be very high if he continues his current rate of progress.

He has been capped by Argentina at under-17 and under-20 level, although he is also eligible to play for Chile.

His release clause is around £27 million, which is cheap for a Premier League club, but whoever buys him is acquiring raw talent and potential, and not somebody who can be expected to make an immediate impression at first-team level.
