The 23-year-old started Sunday’s Wembley final and kept a clean sheet as Pep Guardiola’s men ran out 2-0 winners thanks to a Nico O’Reilly double.
For Trafford, it was a special moment in what has been a difficult campaign, having been usurped as number one by Gianluigi Donnarumma not long after joining from Burnley.
But having continued his run of cup appearances, Trafford was delighted to help City get over the line and claim some more silverware.
“I'm just here to play my part in it,” he told Sky Sports. “This moment means a lot to me.
“Four or five years ago, I was third or fourth choice when we beat Spurs, but I always imagined that I'd win it one day in this jersey.

“This is an incredibly good feeling because all my family and my friends are all here and it's a long way from North West Cumbria, so we had to win.
“The people that are here have been with me throughout, so it's incredible.
“It means a lot to have his [Guardiola’s] faith. And it's a testament to, I believe, myself through how I've acted in training and how I've acted when I've been brought into the cup games.
“Like I’ve said before, every time I play, I just give it my best shot and try to win.
“I make no illusions. It hasn't been easy at all. It's been really, really tough at times. But I've got an incredible set of people around me and the lads are brilliant. The coaches are brilliant. “It more shows how good the people are around me because they've kept me going and given me little goals, so it’s down to them.”
