Rumours linking Arsenal with a summer move for Wesley França are gathering pace, as the club reportedly prepares for a significant defensive reshuffle that could see Ben White depart.
According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal have stepped up their pursuit of the in-form AS Roma full-back, who has impressed in Serie A following his move from Flamengo last summer.

However, ARSENAL are not alone in the race. Interest from other Premier League clubs and across Europe is expected to drive competition for the Brazilian, whose rapid rise has made him one of the more sought-after young defenders ahead of the summer window.
Would France be better alternative than Ben White?
While Wesley França represents an exciting long-term prospect, replacing Ben White with potential rather than proven consistency could be a risky move for Arsenal.
White has been a quietly vital part of Arteta’s system over the past few seasons. His positional intelligence, composure in possession, and adaptability—having successfully transitioned from centre-back to right-back—have provided tactical stability. These are qualities that are not easily replicated, particularly by a younger player still adjusting to elite European football.
By contrast, Wesley is still developing. His impressive attacking output and athletic profile are clear strengths, but he has largely operated in a different tactical setup at Roma, often as a wing-back rather than a traditional full-back.
That distinction matters in a system like Arsenal’s, where defensive discipline and positional awareness are critical.
There is also the question of experience. White has proven himself in the Premier League and high-pressure title races, while Wesley, despite his promise, is only in his first full season in one of Europe’s top leagues.
ARSENAL may see this as a forward-looking decision, but it risks undervaluing what White already guarantees.
