Bradley Chubb could have been a franchise cornerstone that the new regime could hang their hat on to be a foundational piece and mentor for those that joined their project. Now, they will have top face him twice a year after he signed with the Buffalo Bills. While many would expect Chubb to slander his former team, on The Set with Terron Armstead, he showed a lot of gratitude for his time in Miami.

“It’s not personal at all. I’m not going up there to spite Miami. It was the best opportunity presented to me. I love you all. You took me in when I had a lot of hate in my heart”, Chubb said of his experience in Miami. He did end up having a pretty rough experience with the team after starting off his Dolphins tenure pretty well.

From Cornerstone to Cross-Division Rival

Chubb was one of former GM Chris Grier’s best ever decisions, as he was willing to send a boatload of picks to the Broncos for his services. The two-time Pro Bowler ended up having a great debut season, finishing with 11 sacks in his first full season with the team.

However, the Dolphins’ injury crisis happened midway through that season, as both Chubb and fellow pass rusher Jaelan Phillips both went down with season ending injuries, as well as players like Andrew Van Ginkel and Jerome Baker. As a result, the Dolphins were bounced out of the playoffs instantly, and Chubb had to miss all of the 2024 season as well.

In 2025, he was back to his best self, tallying 8.5 sacks and staying healthy all year long. Still, with the regime change, questions about his contract abounded, with the new regime having no choice but to release him.

A Prove-It Chapter Begins in Buffalo

Now, with the Bills, the biggest question surrounding Chubb could be whether or not he can be the same player he was in both 2023 and 2025. About to turn 30, Chubb’s longevity will certainly be analyzed heavily throughout this season, especially if he struggles with the Bills. In fact, many are already saying he could be a bust.

“…it’s fair to wonder whether Chubb was the best bet to make. Turning 30 years old in June, Chubb had 8.5 sacks and 20 quarterback hits for the Dolphins last season. The year before that, he missed the season after tearing his ACL. That’s a microcosm of his star-crossed career, as Chubb has been inactive for 42 games across his eight years in the league”, Matt Vederame of SI wrote about Chubb’s weird career path.

For many Dolphins fans, Chubb leaving for an AFC East rival could end up being very bittersweet. Still, the fact that he has no ill will for an organization that sometimes failed him shows his character and determination to succeed. It may have to happen against the Dolphins, but at the very least, Chub. is in a place that is stable and will give him a chance to play meaningful football games. And that’s all that matters.
