Packers, Jaguars and Chiefs mentioned in Colts $33 million trade rumor

The Indianapolis Colts and quarterback Anthony Richardson seem destined for a split this offseason, but it sounds like the market for the 2023 No. 4 overall pick is dull.

According to Jason La Canfora of SportsBoom, trade talks surrounding Richardson have been "minimal".

"The Colts have granted former first-round pick Anthony Richardson permission to seek a trade, and thus far the interest has been very minimal, as expected," La Canfora said.

La Canfora added that the Kansas City Chiefs were interested in Richardson before acquiring Justin Fields from the New York Jets. The Jacksonville Jaguars and the Green Bay Packers were also linked to Richardson.

"Some evaluators whose teams considered Richardson but opted to go in a different direction were pointing to Andy Reid and the Chiefs as a potential landing spot. Some believed Jacksonville made sense as well."

"Green Bay, I bet, brings him in" a general manager who has been active in the quarterback market said to La Canfora.

Kansas City and Jacksonville don't make sense as possible landing spots for Richardson, as the Chiefs filled their need for a backup with Fields, while making an in-division trade with the Jaguars doesn't make sense.

However, Green Bay does need a backup signal-caller with Malik Willis walking to the Miami Dolphins in free agency, and the franchise could look to take a flyer on Richardson to serve as the QB2 behind Jordan Love.

The Packers have already been linked to Richardson by Colts team reporter Stephen Holder, and there isn't a better place for the Florida product to develop than in Green Bay with Matt LaFleur.
