Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Magalhaes have joined a growing list of Arsenal players to withdraw from international duty.
Both were set to travel to the United States for a pair of friendlies. Trossard has been managing a hip issue in recent weeks, although he was fit enough to feature for most of yesterday’s Carabao Cup final against Manchester City. Gabriel completed the full 90 minutes at Wembley, but is reported to have felt discomfort in his right knee. A scan shared with the Brazil set-up has confirmed a problem.
William Saliba, Jurrien Timber and Eberechi Eze have also pulled out of international duty with France, the Netherlands and England, respectively. Ben White, who was not originally selected by Thomas Tuchel, has since been called up as a replacement for Eze.
Arsenal’s England contingent, Noni Madueke, Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka and White, are expected to be given a couple of days off and are unlikely to feature in Friday’s friendly against Uruguay.
Mikel Arteta’s side don’t play for another 13 days. Hopefully, those staying at home get the rest they need before the season finale begins in earnest.
