Steelers host Flag Football Camp in Germany

A contingent from the Steelers organization, which included long snapper Christian Kuntz and German-born linebacker Julius Welschof and the team's Vice President of Business Development & Strategy Dan Rooney, spent the weekend in Germany hosting a flag football clinic for local youth and attending a top-level German soccer match.

On Friday, the team held a flag football clinic in Dusseldorf for over 80 local boys and girls. Led by Kuntz, Welschof, who is a native of Germany, and German National flag football player Mona Stevens, the participants were able to play the game and learn football skills.

"It's great seeing the game of football being played around the world and a real honor to be able to help grow it," said Kuntz. "I hadn't been to Germany before and didn't know what to expect, but the kids here have a real desire to learn the game."

Welschof participated in the Steelers first-ever flag football camp in Germany in 2025, and has seen the interest in the game grow.

"This is the second flag clinic I've been involved with the Steelers in Germany," said Welschof. "It's so amazing to see the game growing the way that it has in recent years. It's come so far even since I was their age. It's a real pleasure for me to help teach more kids about the game."
