Like most teams, the Green Bay Packers are in full 2026 NFL Draft mode.

We are just one month away from the first round, which the Packers do not have a selection in due to the trade for pass rusher Micah Parsons last year. They have two picks on Day 2 (rounds two and three), and five on Day 3 (rounds four through seven).

The Packers lost several starters in free agency, but believe they have the core of their roster already in place to be successful in 2026. They have acquired some new free agents, but still need to add some complementary pieces to certain position groups in the draft.

Green Bay elected not to re-sign Doubs this offseason, who they selected in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Doubs recorded 202 receptions for 2,424 yards and 21 touchdowns in 59 games with the Packers. He went on to sign a four-year, $68 million contract with the New England Patriots during free agency.

The Packers felt comfortable letting Doubs go due to the impressive, young depth they have at wide receiver. However, they could always add a project player to the position who can contribute down the line. According to Lauren Gray of Pro Football Focus, McAlister has a lot of the same attributes that Doubs possessed entering the draft.

“McAlister enters the draft with similar size and production as Doubs. He racked up 168 career catches for 3,067 yards across four seasons at Boise State (2022, 2023) and TCU (2024, 2025). McAlister doesn’t have the speed concerns that Doubs did, but he does face similar questions about his separation ability after generating a 57.9% separation rate against single coverage at TCU (52nd percentile), along with a 67.4 PFF receiving grade against man coverage.

McAlister excels against zone looks, where he tied for the ninth-best PFF receiving grade in the class in 2025 (80.7). He recorded a better PFF receiving grade on contested than Doubs (76.7 to Doubs’ 69.4 and led the draft class with an 86.5 PFF receiving grade against pressure. Like Doubs, McAlister flashed as an elite vertical threat, bringing in 46 passes beyond 10 yards for 1,172 yards (tied for seventh most) and 12 touchdowns. McAlister earned an 87.6 PFF receiving grade at the intermediate level and a 91.9 mark on targets beyond 20 yards.”

Examining the Current State of Packers WRs

Christian Watson's 2025 availability remains questionable

McAlister would be an intriguing fit for Green Bay, but it has plenty of receivers ready to carry the load in 2026 – such as Christian Watson, Matthew Golden, Dontayvion Wicks, and Jayden Reed. It will be a big year for Watson in particular, who will be looking to secure a lucrative long-term contract next offseason.

The Packers spent a 2025 first-round pick on Golden, who is expected to take a big step forward in 2026. Reed was very productive in 2023 and 2024 before a fractured collarbone limited him to seven games in 2025. Wicks has been a reliable option since entering the league in 2023, catching nine touchdowns over the past two seasons. Also in the mix is Savion Williams, who played his college ball at TCU with McAlister.
