The New England Patriots surprised the football world by cruising to a 14-3 record and a Super Bowl appearance in the first year under new head coach Mike Vrabel.
While analysts believe in both Vrabel and young quarterback Drake Maye, not many thought the former North Carolina star would take the leap he did in his sophomore campaign. In just his second season, Maye finished just a handful of votes behind Los Angeles Rams star quarterback Matthew Stafford for the NFL‘s MVP award and won the AFC.
A successful 2025 season ended with a blowout loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl and just over a month later the Patriots are busy turning the page onto 2026.

On Monday morning news broke that the team planned to release veteran quarterback Joshua Dobbs after reportedly failing to find a trade partner.
“The #Patriots are planning to release backup QB Josh Dobbs, sources say, after the being unable to find a trade partner. Dobbs is now slated to be free,” NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport said.
Dobbs has been a member of nine NFL teams during his career, including as the starter for the Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals, Minnesota Vikings, and San Francisco 49ers. The quarterback was drafted out of Tennessee by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth round of the 2017 draft.
