Former Lakers center DeMarcus Cousins believes Luka Doncic is currently the best player in the NBA and the top MVP candidate.
The Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic has been unreal over the last nine-game stretch.
Los Angeles Lakers / Schedule
He has led the Lakers to nine consecutive wins, reaching a level of dominance reminiscent of Wilt Chamberlain during this run.
This stretch has drastically changed many people's opinions on the Lakers' chances this season, as well as Doncic's case in the MVP conversation, with some now believing he may be the leading candidate to win the award.
Former NBA All-Star and Lakers center DeMarcus Cousins believes that, based on Luka's current form, he deserves First Team All-NBA honors and should be considered the top MVP candidate.
"Luka definitely should be talked about as a top candidate for MVP this season," Cousins said on the Run It Back podcast.
"As of lately, yes, I would put Luka as a First Team All-NBA guy, just based on this stretch of basketball, the drastic improvement with the team. And on top of that, they're winning games on a consistent basis in a very tough Western Conference.''
Cousins went even further, suggesting that Luka might not only be the leading MVP candidate but also the best player in the NBA right now.
"As of right now, talking about Luka, I would say he's the best player in the NBA," he added.
Across these nine games, Luka Doncic has been simply unstoppable, averaging 40.0 points while shooting nearly 50 percent from the field (40.3 percent from three), along with 8.4 rebounds and 7.4 assists.
