Arsenal might see multiple first-team squad players move on this summer transfer window

Arsenal were dealt a bitter blow on Sunday as they lost out on the first major trophy of their domestic season in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.

Nico O’Reilly scored twice as Manchester City were 2-0 victors to add to Pep Guardiola’s bulging trophy cabinet, while Mikel Arteta and his side saw their six-year wait for silverware continue and dreams of the quadruple fade. The pressure will be on the Gunners to bounce back after the international break and injury issues picked up by Eberechi Eze, William Saliba and Jurrien Timber are unlikely to help this, after the trio all pulled out of international duty.

No matter where Arsenal end up in the Premier League come the end of the season, an important summer lies ahead, and Arteta will be faced with transfer dilemmas concerning multiple first-team squad players. One of these could be Myles Lewis-Skelly, according to recent reports.

Man United target shock £50m Lewis-Skelly move

Reported by TEAMtalk, Arsenal youngster Lewis-Skelly has become a shock target for Manchester United this summer as the Red Devils look to secure a successor to Luke Shaw.

The 19-year-old burst onto the scene at the Emirates last season but has fallen down the pecking order this term, with Piero Hincapie and Riccardo Calafiori preferred to him at left-back and limiting Lewis-Skelly to just one league start all campaign.

But the Hale End academy graduate’s vast potential is recognised across the continent and he could be ‘open’ to a summer exit in an attempt to kick-start his career elsewhere. United have been ‘alerted’ to his availability amidst a four-man shortlist at left-back, while Chelsea and Real Madrid have previously been linked and both Everton and Brentford are also ‘monitoring his situation closely’.

Lewis-Skelly’s first-team chances at Arsenal are unlikely to change this term amid their title race run-in and both player and club will have an important decision to make over his long-term future this summer. The teenager is said to believe departing his boyhood club could help his England chances, with a World Cup spot currently appearing unlikely. He is currently valued at around £50million, as per reports by the Daily Star.
