NBA called out for Luka Doncic double standard by former All-Star

Instead of serving a one-game suspension against the Detroit Pistons on Monday night, Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic has been cleared to play at Little Caesars Arena as the Lakers pursue a ninth consecutive win.

Doncic, who has slapped with his 16th technical foul during a confrontation with the Orlando Magic's Goga Bitadze on Saturday, asserted that he was merely responding to comments Bitadze allegedly made about Doncic's family -- comments that the Magic big man has denied making.

But the NBA has rescinded the technical in a move that drew the ire of a former All-Star on Monday.

"My issue is with how the league picks and chooses, or decides who they want to cater to or who they don't," Boogie Cousins said Monday on FanDuel TV's "Run It Back."

Cousins was frequently hit with technical fouls during his career, making him well-versed in knowing when a player crosses the line versus when he doesn't. And to Cousins, the NBA's choice to lift Doncic's suspension is rooted in favoritism, and a double standard that he wants to see brought to an end.

"If this is Draymond Green, it's not getting rescinded," Cousins said, citing his former Golden State Warriors teammate. "That's my issue with this. If (the NBA) is willing to look at this as a case-by-case scenario, I think that should be across the board with every player. (There are) a lot of inconsistencies as far as what you're willing to accept."
