Chelsea are preparing to reignite their long-standing interest in Victor Osimhen ahead of the summer transfer window, with sources indicating the club remain determined to land an elite, 30-goal-a-season striker to spearhead their attack.
The Nigerian international, currently at Galatasaray, has once again emerged as a prime target after another prolific spell in front of goal. Widely regarded as one of the most complete No.9s in world football, Osimhen’s blend of pace, power and finishing has kept him firmly on Chelsea’s radar despite previous failed attempts to secure his signature.
CHELSEA’s renewed interest comes amid ongoing concerns about their lack of a consistent goalscorer. The club have tracked Osimhen for several years, but negotiations have repeatedly broken down — primarily due to financial demands. Reports suggest the striker currently earns around €290,000 per week in Turkey, a figure the London side were previously unwilling to match.
Sources close to the situation indicate that Osimhen would expect a similar — if not improved — package to consider a move to Stamford Bridge. Previous negotiations also revealed that the forward has, at times, sought wages that would place him among the Premier League’s highest earners, underlining the scale of the financial commitment required.
Despite the monetary hurdle, there are indications that Osimhen would be open to a move to England. The 27-year-old has long been linked with a switch to the Premier League, and it is understood he would favour a competitive European project over alternative destinations, provided his contractual expectations are met.
However, any deal remains complicated. Galatasaray are under no pressure to sell after committing to a record-breaking transfer to sign him permanently in 2025, and reports have suggested that suitors may need to pay a premium fee — potentially well above €100 million — to prise him away.
CHELSEA must also decide whether they are willing to break from their current wage structure, which has previously prevented the club from completing high-profile deals. Failure to do so could once again leave them trailing in the race for one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards.
As the summer window approaches, the situation is expected to intensify, with CHELSEA weighing up whether to finally meet Osimhen’s demands — or risk missing out on a striker who could transform their attacking fortunes.
