The 2026 NFL Draft offers strong value down the board at cornerback, which is good news for the Green Bay Packers. They are in desperate need of depth at the position, and Tacario Davis could be one of the most intriguing value selections in the class.
Davis is currently ranked No. 121 overall on the consensus big board. That lines up almost perfectly with where the Packers are slated to pick at No. 120, making him a realistic target if they stay put.
From a physical and athletic standpoint, Tacario Davis fits the mold of what Brian Gutekunst looks for in defensive backs. He posted a 9.78 Relative Athletic Score, and his 33 3/8” arms consistently show up on tape, giving him an advantage when disrupting receivers at the line of scrimmage.

His skill set favors man and press coverage, where his length and physicality can consistently challenge routes early. The production is also there. He earned an 85.9 coverage grade in 2023, breaking up 15 passes, and has held opposing quarterbacks to just a 49.7% completion rate across his career.
The former Husky also defends the run well, posting an 81.8 run defense grade in 2025 and missing only 5% of his tackling attempts. That kind of consistency matters in Green Bay.
The Packers place a premium value on cornerbacks who can hold up against the run — just look at the stretch last season when they benched Carrington Valentine due to inconsistent tackling. It only adds to Davis’ appeal as a potential Day 3 contributor who could develop further.
Like any rookie, Davis still has areas of his game to refine. He dealt with a rib and hamstring injury in 2025, and he isn’t the most explosive athlete, as it can take him some time to reach top speed.
That said, the Packers wouldn’t need to rush him into a starting role. He could benefit from a redshirt-type year early on, developing behind the scenes before potentially pushing for a starting job in 2027.
His film shows flashes, but it’s not without inconsistencies. There’s enough on tape to buy into the physical tools and upside, though the risk is evident and won’t appeal to everyone. It ultimately comes down to whether Green Bay feels comfortable with its depth at the position, allowing them to take a swing on a traits-based prospect like Davis.

“Tacario’s length and athleticism are so rare,” UWHuskiesWire editor Roman Tomashoff said in 2025. “He has great ball skills, is such a fluid mover, and is a true physical specimen at the position. He thrives in coverage thanks to a combination of his athletic traits, length, and strong technique.”
The Packers have a history of dipping into Washington’s cornerback pipeline, most notably with the selection of Kevin King in the second round of the 2017 draft. However, that pick came under the late Ted Thompson‘s leadership. Gutekunst wouldn’t take over as general manager until 2018.
Unfortunately, the King selection didn’t pan out as hoped. Still, the Green Bay Packers now have a chance to rewrite that history – and ideally make it a better one. That said, it’s important to keep in mind that Davis will need time to develop. If Green Bay puts too much on his plate early, they risk rushing his growth and potentially hurting his long-term development.
Green Bay should have a chance to land Tacario Davis, but it wouldn’t be surprising if Brian Gutekunst prioritizes a more NFL-ready option early in the draft. The Packers don’t have a first-round pick, which adds more pressure to their selections on Day 2. If Davis is still available on Day 3, though, that’s where the value becomes hard to ignore – and where Green Bay would have every reason to bet on his traits and upside.
