This Eagles trade pitch would send Jalen Carter to the Browns in exchange for Myles Garrett
The Philadelphia Eagles have been involved in quite a few rumors early on this offseason, most of which have revolved around star wide receiver A.J. Brown. When you have one of the most trade-happy general managers in the league, Howie Roseman, leading the way, rumors are always going to be flying around, so this is pretty much par for the course when it comes to the Eagles’ offseason work.
Another guy whose name has popped up in trade rumors is defensive tackle Jalen Carter. While Carter is a stud, the problem is that Philly has some salary cap troubles on its hands, which could make handing him a contract extension rather difficult. But what if it used him as a trade chip to land a guy like Cleveland Browns‘ defensive end Myles Garrett? Let’s take a look at a blockbuster trade pitch between these two teams that would shake up the entire league.
Eagles’ Myles Garrett Trade Pitch
Eagles acquire: DE Myles Garrett
Browns acquire: DT Jalen Carter, 2026 first-round pick (No. 23)
The allure of trading for Garrett isn’t too hard to figure out. In 2025, he broke the NFL’s single-season sack record, finishing the year with 23 sacks in 17 games. That earned him the Defensive Player of the Year Award, and while the Browns only signed Garrett to a massive four-year, $160 million contract extension last offseason, they could conceivably trade him if they get a big enough package to do so.
Leading with Carter would certainly help the Eagles’ chances of landing Garrett. One of the most dominant interior linemen in the league, Carter can hold his own against both the run and pass, and he is fresh off his second straight Pro Bowl campaign. With fellow defensive tackle Jordan Davis receiving a three-year, $78 million contract extension earlier this offseason, though, that makes it tougher to justify handing Carter a big deal in the near future as well.
By moving Carter and acquiring Garrett, Philly could balance out its defensive line by landing a superstar pass rusher in exchange for one of its star defensive tackles. Add in a first-round pick, which is the No. 23 overall selection in the draft, and that would give Cleveland three selections in the first round of this year’s draft. Having that sort of draft capital would allow the Browns to make pretty much any move they wanted, which is something that can’t be overlooked.

From the Eagles’ perspective, this is a really interesting trade. While they’d avoid having to hand Carter a huge deal, they’d take on Garrett’s massive contract. Maybe they get the Browns to take on some of the money from that deal, but it feels like the front office would almost have to get rid of Brown and his big contract in order for this to work. Whether they want to sacrifice Carter and another first-round pick to cause more cap headaches remains to be seen.
As for Cleveland, it doesn’t really have a motivation to trade Garrett. It just signed him to a new deal last offseason, and it just used the No. 5 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on Mason Graham, another defensive tackle. If Carter played another position, maybe it would pique the Browns’ interest, but he just doesn’t fill an area of need for the team right now, which is probably why their front office would turn this offer down.
